Marko Duranovic is registered dietitian nutritionist. Since his childhood Marko has been showing great interest in two different fields of study – medicine and literature. He enrolled Medical School and Faculty of Philology of University of Belgrade, but while studying at the University he realized that he was much more attracted to the natural ways of healing diseases, so he transferred to the only higher education institution in Serbia that was offering , at that time, undergraduate medical degree with dietetics as major subject of the course- and that was College of Health Sciences in Belgrade.
Marko has completed medical internship at the most distinguished medical institution of the tertiary health care in Serbia- University Clinical Centre of Serbia, mainly on the clinics where medical nutrition therapy (diet therapy) is of great importance in therapeutic procedures, treatment, and improving of patient`s condition- those are: Clinic of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Disease, Clinic for Digestive Surgery, Clinic of Nephrology and Clinic of Dermatovenerology.
Marko has more than 14 years of experience in the health industry. He has worked for well-known British and American spa resorts- Harding Brothers Spa Division from Southampton, and for more than four years he has worked in one of the most distinguished holistic wellness and spa resorts in the USA- Canyon Ranch. During his employment in these spa resorts, he has worked for many years onboard the cruise ships of some of the best World Cruise Companies- Queen Mary 2 of Cunard, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Oceania Cruises etc., on the position of Nutritionist, Health& Fitness Advisor, or Wellness Consultant. During this time Marko has held hundreds of seminars and lectures regarding healthy diet, healthy ways of food preparation, nutrition and gastrointestinal health, nutrition and cardiovascular health, obesity, detoxification of the body, exercise and importance of physical activity as part of the therapy for certain chronic non infectious diseases. He has encountered with many patients with different health issues, coming from different parts of the world, to whom he has created dietotherapy. The fact that he was making diets for patients that were coming from different meridians, and whose nutritional habits were so different, had a special significance, because that allowed him to get familiar with different world cuisines and huge variety of ingredients, comestibles that are being used in cuisines like Chinese, Indonesian, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Filipino, Latin American Cuisines, North American, as well as different cuisines from Europe and Middle East. His main focus is on investigating the ways for prevention of chronic non infectious diseases that are widely spread and heavily jeopardizing the mankind- diabetes, atherosclerosis, autoimmune diseases- throughout the adequate nutrition and physical activity. Marko is also highly interested in medical illnesses of gastrointestinal tract, and their correlation with our immunity system.
On his numerous travelings around the world, Marko has expanded his knowledge in dietetics, as well as ayurvedic medicine and phytotherapy, which are widely used around the world along with conventional therapeutical methods.
Besides his medical education, Marko also has a title of Professor of Spanish Language and Literature, and he is certified personal trainer from international sports and fitness school FISAF.
